26/02/05 - Air scoop a go-go!

Thanks to some judicious sniping on eBay, The Ronda will soon be proudly sporting a functional air scoop atop her bonnet.  The item is from a Renault 19 16v, purchased for its immense cheapness (I got it for a tenner).  Here's the eBay pic of the scoop:

The plan is to cut a hole in the bonnet, directly above the air filter housing.  We'll then cut a corresponding hole in the lid of the air filter and cover the various holes we've made with a fine gauze (to prevent great lumps of crap getting into the carb).  The scoop will of course be affixed over the bonnet hole, for the sporty look we've been so desperately seeking.  We'll also block up the existing cold air feed to the air filter, for the full "ram air" effect.  In theory, the faster we go, the more cold air gets pushed into the engine, allowing the motor to breathe more freely and releasing some much needed extra power...  Yeah, right.
