We've bought ourselves a big ol' can of Power Boost, a kind of de-gunking foam spray which you empty into the carburettor at fast idle. I've used the stuff before, and can attest to the fact that it can really make a tired old car feel a lot more responsive. Take a look at Faster Online for more details. We are also toying with the idea of a functional air scoop on the bonnet - i.e. a bent piece of aluminium over a dirty great hole in the bonnet itself. We could then cut a hole in the top of the "frying pan" air filter - the theory being the faster we go, the more air gets sucked in. Plus, it'll look really cool! We'll need a bit of fine mesh over the hole in the bonnet to stop dogs and small children getting sucked into the engine (such is the immense power of the Rover 1.3). |
