First, we decided what sort of car we wanted. Fairly quickly, we came to the conclusion that something mechanically simple and reliable would be the order of the day. Something Japanese would be good. Or, how about a Rover 213? I've had 4 of the little charmers before, so know they're good (if a little on the basic side). Even better, the 213 has the 12-valve Honda engine from the old '85 Civic, which means you can't break 'em. Nice. Buying the car What does modern man do when he needs to get hold of a car for £100 or less? He logs onto eBay, of course! Which is exactly what we did. The result is the cracking little motor we call The Ronda (half Rover, half Honda… See what we did, there?) True to the spirit of S2N, we paid exactly £100 for her. Picking a theme We knew turning up to S2N2005 in an old lady's shopping car wouldn’t cut it with the banger rally crowd, so looked at ways of jazzing up our little tin box. It suddenly dawned on us that painting the car to look like Knight Rider would be a total stroke of genius.
